The
beneficiary communities
were selected in the initial
stages of
the Programme using
a general
methodology that
was adapted in line
with national realities.
This methodology is
based on technical
and socio-economic
criteria, accessibility
and the level of commitment
shown by the communities
concerned.
Intense fieldwork was
performed
by
technical
and
social
experts
in
each
of
the
partner
countries.
This
involved
visits
to
communities
and
the
organization
of information
and
socialization
workshops to
inform
local
inhabitants
about
the
benefits
and
commitments
of
participating
in
the
Programme.
The
communities
were
asked
to
provide
letters
of
interest
duly
signed
by
their
representatives
to
apply
for
inclusion
in
the
Programme.
Candidates
were
then
assessed
by
an appraisal
committee as
part
of
a
selection
procedure
designed
to
guarantee transparency,
resulting
in
the
approval
of 600
beneficiary
communities. |
