From the 11 to 15 May the 2nd Regional Conference will be held in Roatán, Honduras, to coincide with the programme’s midway stage of development, prior to installing the kits in the rural communities, and tying in with signature of the Addendum to the Funding Agreement.
A meeting was held in Brussels in February 2009 to launch the supply contracts signed in December 2008.
During the month of March, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Deputy Minister of Mining and Energy (the national executive body) and the Programme’s Head of Technical Assistance (Fabio Lucantonio) made a series of technical visits in the field to 17 beneficiary communities in the Department of San Pedro.

On 6 March 2009, the El Salvador CNC and the Head of Technical Assistance visited the Planes de La Laguna school in the municipal district and department of Santa Ana, to check the state of the refurbishment work.
The EURO-SOLAR Programme in Peru is currently in the process of refurbishing local schools in order to install equipment in the 101 communities selected. The Educational Infrastructure Office (OINFE) of the Ministry of Education is coordinating the work and has contracted 28 consultants (engineers and architects) to make a preliminary assessment of the state of the schools.
On 20 and 21 April a Rural Electrification Workshop was held in Ecuador funded by the Sixth European Community Research and Development Framework Programme and organised by the Tech4CDM programme, promoted by the Institute for Energy Diversification and Savings (IDAE)
Within the framework of various activities promoting renewable energy as part of the EURO-SOLAR programme, on 20 May a conference-symposium will be held on Renewable Energies : a development opportunity for isolated rural areas of Latin America, at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid.
